When planning the organization of work in a warehouse, one cannot forget about the safety aspect. It is very important to use technical solutions allowing for the elimination of threats. Production halls and logistic warehouses are very often equipped with various types of protective barriers. From the beginning, our company has been dealing with securing workplaces with various types of barriers. As a result, the level of security in enterprises is significantly increased in many aspects – the protection of people, goods or infrastructure.
The market of protective barriers
The market for safety and barriers is constantly growing, flexible and steel fenders are now available. Barriers made of steel are still the most popular and most frequently chosen option. This is mainly related to financial issues and the industry getting used to this form of security. The second type of fenders – flexible – have been on the market relatively recently. It is a new, interesting form, the group of which is constantly growing. It is related to the properties of the barriers, they do not deform after impact, they are resistant to corrosion and scratches.
Steel barriers
Steel fenders have become a permanent fixture in halls all over the world and have been protecting them against threats for many years. The lower cost of purchase and installation clearly supports them. The problem appears with further operation, as the barriers must be maintained and repaired on an ongoing basis. In the event of hitting the barrier, it is deformed or destroyed. In addition, high impact force very often results in tearing the fasteners out of the floor, which forces them to replace them and reattach new barriers, which means additional financial outlays.
Flexible barriers
A newer form of security – flexible barriers – eliminates the disadvantages of steel barriers. When using them, there is no need for additional financial outlays. The material from which the elastic barriers are made absorbs the energy from the impact, thanks to which they are not subject to deformation and changes. After impact, they return to their original shape. Their design allows for easy assembly and disassembly. These barriers are resistant to weather conditions and corrosion, so they can be installed both inside and outside.
Our Hard-Flexx® barriers are characterized by:
- High mechanical strength in relation to the weight
- Resistance to weather conditions, active environment, corrosion and UV radiation
- Strength similar to steel with significantly lighter weight
- Ease of assembly and disassembly
- Durability of color and no need to paint
- Absorption of energy on impact
- Flame retardant
The use of safety barriers is absolutely mandatory in order to be able to maintain safety in the production plant or logistic hall. However, there is freedom in choosing steel or flexible fenders. With the current technology and by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the solutions presented, it is more likely to choose flexible barriers. Despite the initial higher purchase and assembly costs, the lack of the need for subsequent replacements and repairs makes their use much more profitable in the long term.
